Publication of the report on the transactions of the Board of Governors of the Society of Cretan Historical Studies for 1960. During this time, the question of financing was settled to a satisfactory degree. A decision was made to expand the Museum. The collections, library and archive were enriched. Restoration work on Aghios Markos continued. Preparations were made for the organisation of the First Cretan Studies Congress. N. Panayiotakis’ study entitled Theodosios Diakonos kai to poiema autou Alosis tes Kretes [Theodosios the Deacon and his Poem ‘The Fall of Crete’] was published, and a subsidy was provided for I. Karatarakis’ verse folklore collection entitled He thane sten Krete [Death on Crete]. The Society lost three members: Nikolaos Tzanakis, Thrasyvoulos Stavrakis and Philotheos, Bishop of Iera and Sitia. New members joined. |
