Publication of the holographic will drawn up by the Cretan priest Grigorios Maras in Venice on 25th April 1704, and the codicil supplementing it eight years later, on 2nd March 1712. Both documents were found in a notarial ledger kept by Frangiskos Velanos, now held in the Venetian State Archive. They are valuable sources on the life, works and material wealth of the Orthodox cleric, who lived in the city of lagoons a few decades after his native land fell to the Ottomans. |
