Apostoles settled on Crete in the mid-15th century, making a crucial contribution to the growth of the humanities on the island. The text was composed shortly before the end of 1468 or mid 1469, as can be surmised from a letter the author wrote at the time, complaining that he had not been paid for it. Publication is based on codex no. 204 in the Staatsbibliothek zu Berlin.
