Works by him survive in the church of Aghios Georgios at Komitades; Aghios Nikolaos at Moni; the Koimese tes Theotokou [Dormition of the Virgin] at Alikambos; Aghios Georgios at Anydroi; Aghios Nikolaos at Maza; Michael Archangelos at Kandanos; the Theotokos at Kakodiki; and in Panaghia Skafidiani. Other frescoes that may be attributed to him are in Aghios Ioannis at Kandanos; Aghios Panteleimonas at Prodromi; and the Theotokos at Kadros. With regard to his technique, style and iconography, Pagomenos followed archaic eastern models, but was open to the innovative influences in Palaologue art. By creatively assimilating earlier and newer features, Pagomenos was a provincial artist who formed his own personal style. |
