| Presentation of the work of the Society of Cretan Historical Studies in 1956. During this time, work on the exhibition of the Historical Museum was completed and new material was added to its collections. Work continued on cataloguing tables of Cretan place-names for the publication of the Dictionary of Place-Names. The library and archive were also enriched with books, documents, photographs and microfilms of Venetian reports. Work began on the restoration of the church of St Mark. The EKIM publication series was inaugurated with Stergios Spanakis' historical treatise Symbole eis ten Historian tou Lasithiou (Contribution to the History of Lassithi). New corresponding members joined the Society. |
