Due to its size, this article is divided into four sections, on pages 323-325 of vol. VIII, 372-394 of vol. X, 109-146 and 466-499 of vol. XIV. It constitutes a publication, in French, of part of the correspondence of the French Consuls in Crete from 1686 to 1730. Memoranda and reports of general interest are provided, giving an overview of the situation in Crete. The correspondence is in the French National Archives, Aff. Etr. B1. The correspondence in this section refers to commerce with France in the years 1725-1730, Cretan olive oil and Rethymno silk, as well as current coinage, weights and measures. Memorandum no. 20 includes a description of Arkadi Mοnastery and Mt Ida in 1730. |
