Publication in the original Italian and Greek translation of the will of the Cretan painter Zorzi Lubinas, drawn up at Venice on 22 October 1546. Like other Greek Orthodox artists, the painter specialised in portable icons of the Madonna for Venetian homes; he was therefore known as a “Madonnero”. His circle included other artists such as Zanetto, Zorzi Casseler and Vettor. The testator’s sound financial situation shows that his work was lucrative. |
