Examination of Marcianus XI.19, Vindobonensis Gracus 244 and Barociannus 216. With regard to the first, it is argued that the notes on the manuscript of Fortounatos were added after the main text was written rather than before, and that on this basis the play dates to before May 1666. Further observations indicate the existence of an unknown edition of Katsourbos. Linguistic errors in Stathis and Zeno are attributed to copying from manuscripts in Italian characters. Evidence is adduced to argue that Codex Vindobonensis Gracus 244 was written by one person, and that the manuscript should be dated to around 1520. Lastly, a re-reading is proposed for a short autograph poem by a scribe on Codex Baroccianus 216, suggesting that the model used was Theocritus’ second idyll. |
