Title
The Giamalakis Collection in 1952
Summary PDF
Presentation of the new acquisitions added to the Giamalakis Collection in 1952: archaeological finds of clay and bronze, sealstones, jewellery and other artifacts, dating from Minoan to Roman times. They derive from the area around Aghioi Deka (near Ancient Gortys), Knossos, Gazi, Anopoli, Axos, Messara, Vasilika Anogeia, Malia, Ligortyna and Faneromeni in Pyrgiotissa, as well as from Athens. The most significant finds are three Archaic heads on tiles from Anopolis and Axos, a sword from an LMIII tomb near Vasilika Anogeia and a Minoan figurine of a votary standing erect from Malia.
