Meletios Vlastos to Thomas Contarini, Summary PDF Two epigrams and a speech attributed to the Cretan cleric Meletios Vlastos are published here on the basis of the Venetus VII 915 (=8953) codex in the Biblioteca Marciana in Venice, once owned by Ieronymos Contarini. The texts are addressed to Thomas Contarini, Catholic archbishop of Crete, who must have belonged to the same family. They constitute significant sources in the study of relations between learned Greek Orthodox clerics and Catholic church officials on Crete in the late 16th and early 17th century.
