These are: clay Mycenaean vessels; Greek and Hellenistic vessels from Ierapetra; two clay figurines and a glass container from a Roman tomb in Gortyn; clay busts and female figurines; a vessel in the form of a head of Harpocrates. The following were also acquired: stone pots from an early Minoan tomb in the Mesara; a stone lamp from Lassithi; Hellenistic alabaster perfume jars from tombs in Ierapetra; a marble child’s head from Aghios Myronas; bronze moulds from Axos; a bronze Daedalic group; a griffin bust; a bronze helmet; fragments of a cauldron from Axos; and other bronze artefacts. The collection was completed by a late medieval seal, gold artefacts of various periods, an ivory tool handle and Minoan seals. |
