A presentation of archaeological activity in Crete in 1950, specifically: the unpacking and redisplay of the exhibits of Heraklion Archaeological Museum; the housing of the Neapoli collection; restoration work on the palaces of Knossos and Phaistos; the stabilisation of two churches containing wall paintings in the Neapoli district; attempts to preserve the medieval walls and certain Venetian monuments of Heraklion and Rethymnon; the excavations at the Vathypetro Megaron, the cave near Karnari, Aghios Ioannis in Heraklion, Knossos, Itanos and Phaistos; collection of antiquities near Kavousi village; and chance finds in the areas of Gortys, Archanes, Kanene in Sitia, Poros in Heraklion, Vayionia, Spilia in Knossos and ancient Lyttos.
