The report submitted to the Venetian Senate by the Duke of Crete Zuanne Sagredo in October 1604, following the end of his two-year term of office and his return to Venice, is published in the original Italian and in Greek translation. The authorities of the Serenissima are informed of the issues he was directly responsible for, namely viticultural conditions and the wine trade, the measures necessary to increase the wheat crops and ensure that the island was self-sufficient in wheat, and the progress of work on the supply of water to Chandax. |
