| Publication of a synodic confirmatory letter by the Patriarch of Constantinople Theodosius II, issued in 1769. The letter recognises and ratifies, on behalf of the patriarchate, the private agreement made in 1737 between the Sinaites of Chandax and the Metropolitan of Crete regarding the distribution of the income of the Sinaite metochi (monastic dependency) of Aghios Matthaios and the church of Aghios Minas. The document is published from an attested copy preserved in the archive of Aghios Minas, as the original, kept in the church of Aghios Matthaios, proved impossible to locate. |
