An examination of the work of Petros and Michael Pediotis, two brother muralists most probably originating from the Pediada area of Crete, who were active in the Peloponnese in the early 18th century, during the period of Venetian occupation. Their religious wall paintings are found in the monastery of Panaghia in Kalami, the monastery of the Theotokos Boura in the Megalopoli district, the monastery church of Aghios Georgios in Rekitsa, the more modern church of Kalami Monastery and the church of the Three Hierarchs in Stemnitsa. Their style follows the Byzantine tradition as incorporated into the Cretan School. |
