Romantic enhypnia and moralistic texts comprise the literary production of Cretan poet Marinos Falieros, which is studied here with reference to both the author's identity and the main grammatological problems: the literary context, the quality of the texts handed down through the manuscript tradition, their contents, their relationship to Western, Byzantine and Modern Greek demotic literature, and their language and versification. This is followed by the critical edition of the Erotikon Enhypnion, based on M.S. III B. 27 of the National Library of Naples. The text is accompanied by a detailed critical commentary. |
