| Codex 253 of the Heraklion Turkish Archive preserves the private diary of Konstantinos Kozyris from Kritsa, covering the years 1831-1845, when he represented his province on the local council at Megalo Kastro. The text published here is accompanied by a detailed introduction examining the diarist’s personality within the context of contemporary historical developments, his language and style and the criteria used to include or omit events. This is followed by a description of the codex and publication with commentary of the first three pages, which cover the period from 10th February to 13th November 1831. |
